Serving an outsized population of around 125,000 citizens, Valan hospital provides a full range of acute services, replacing outdated facilities in the centre of this village.
The demographics of the region is classed as below poverty line, unable to access affordable basic primary health care. Amongst those benefiting from the services of this hospital, remarkable patients have raised our determination in wanting to cure those less fortunate than ourselves. It’s the bravery shown by these individuals that have touched our hearts. With our supporters, we help keep the hope alive for thousands of people who need our help.

What we do
Throughout the yearwe run special appealsto raise money for
enhancing equipment, supporting less fortunate families and hospital development. We are always keen to hear from those who could support us, and representatives who are willing to sponsor the needs of the hospital on our behalf.
Late Haji Musa Ibrahim & Hajiyani Aminaben Jarman (Valan) were the driving force behind it’s opening, led by the staggering levels of deaths caused by lack of maternity facilities present in close proximity. Although this may not seem severe for many, one should interrogate a mother who’s nurtured her unborn child for 9 months and then been told, her child has died because she reached the hospital too late. From the hundreds of mothers who faced these situations, it would be in their favour to know that someone out there inspires to build hope again into their lives. Since the idea of The Hospital Project was proposed, the support, dedication and momentum has been overwhelming, and may Allah SWT preserve this passion within our hearts.
This project aims to satisfy the following:
The Need
The trivial necessity for a hospital in this location was based on two main concerns. Firstly, the under development of this area, indicating majority of the population surrounding the hospital was poor.
Secondly, the lack of medical facilities for villagers to benefit from .With hospitals currently based in Vadodara, It was essential that lower class individuals could benefit from receiving immediate and affordable medical treatment close-by. Till now, the nearest hospital is located approximately 30 miles away from the village.
Lack of transportation facilities brings about difficulty to a patient whose health is at risk. Severe emergency cases relate to maternity patients who require immediate assistance, but fail to acquire it. In due respect, our plan was to construct Valan Hospital in providing medical aid to this rural area of Gujarat.

The land acquired for the development of this project had been kindly donated by Haji Yusuf Bhai & Haji Vali Bhai Mangroliya & family.
November 2008 – With the blessing of Allah SWT, the construction was inaugurated, strongly supported by the well wishers (committee and non committee members).
29th February 2008 – In the presence of Ulama’s, Scholars and well-wishers the project inauguration had been marked.
8th of October 2008 – The development land was registered under Valan Social Welfare Trust (Land donated by Haji Yusuf Bhai & Haji Vali Bhai Mangroliya & family, Cape town).
28th January 2011 – The inauguration of Valan hospital
6th February 2011 – First eye cataracts camp
May 2011 – Second eye cataracts camp
13th November 2011 – Orthopaedic, skin and general diagnosis camp

It is common for cataracts to develop in the eyes of adults with an increase in age. Many sufferers had gone without treatment in such cases due to a lack of funds and facilities. To overcome this problem, the establishment of an eye clinic has been planned to enable the less fortunate to avail themselves of the services of an optician for eye tests and an eye surgeon for the removal of cataracts if required. Free of charge or subsidized cataracts operations will be carried out at the periodic hospital eye camps.
